Testimonial Video: Patient experience with tavr (transcatheter aortic valve replacement)

Overview

A short film on the life experience of Mr. Dhar highlights the health issues a patient has to face if suffering from severe aortic stenosis. Since it is more of an age-related heart disorder, it can be more painful & difficult to manage.

In the movie, Mr Dhar talks about the time when aortic stenosis got severe, more aggravated, and that led to severe breathing issues - to the extent that the patient once collapsed and even choked.

He further says that he was admitted under Dr. Rajneesh Kapoor - Vice Chairman-Interventional Cardiology at Medanta Hospital and was advised transcatheter aortic valve replacement because surgical valve replacement could have been risky & life-threatening.

The movie emphatically showcases the experience of patient in hospital and life after treatment with tavr by Dr. Rajneesh Kapoor.

  • Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) is a treatment for aortic valve stenosis. Aortic valve stenosis — or aortic stenosis — occurs when the heart's aortic valve thickens and becomes stiff (calcifies). As a result, the valve can't fully open and blood flow to the body is reduced. TAVR is an alternative to open-heart aortic valve replacement surgery. People who have TAVR often have a shorter hospital stay than those who have surgical aortic valve replacement. Dr. Rajneesh Kapoor
